With the Active EDW platform, Teradata introduces hybrid storage with both Solid State Drive (SSD) and traditional Hard Disk Drive (HDD) technologies enabled by the Teradata Virtual Storage™ feature. By automatically placing often used “hot” data on high-speed SSD storage and less used “cold” data on traditional speed HDD, this feature optimizes the use of storage. This delivers breakthrough levels of performance per capacity, higher query throughput and faster, more consistent query response times. The result: real business value by allowing more real-time users, faster response to events, and more real-time active data warehouse applications.

The Teradata system expands incrementally from one to more than 4,096 nodes, accommodates user data space from six terabytes to 92 petabytes, and features massively parallel processing architecture.

Availability
The Teradata system features unique clique architecture with automatic node failover and Hot Standby node for optimum availability and full performance continuity. The Teradata system also contains redundant hardware components minimizing the impact of component or module failures.

Manageability and Ease of Use
Monitors and controls the system, performs routine events, and protects the system from disruptive failure.
